How to Teach Children to Write

Writing is a skill that is developed more effectively when you time your teaching properly. If your child is not yet ready to learn, you might have trouble making them retain your teachings. Studies state that writing skills start to develop in children at around 4-5 years of age. When your child falls under that age bracket, you have to go and look out for signs that they are ready to learn.

One of these would be if they start asking you questions about what you are writing. This means that you must make yourself highly visible to them while you are doing some writing. Whether you are composing a Birthday Card or playing the Sunday Crossword, they are bound to be curious about what you are doing when they see you on it.

The brazen children would definitely express interest and ask to be taught, while some might be shy and work at copying what you have written on the sly. You can go and let them add up an item or two on the grocery list, and encourage them to do simple writing tasks such as making a Thank You note for their favorite teacher.
