Whenever you find out that your wife is pregnant, as a guy, one of the most important things you can do is be there for your partner both emotionally and physically as well. Many guys understand the fact that they will have to pick up the slack around the house, doing things such as dishes, laundry, grocery shopping, and other tasks of this nature. However, I was warned well ahead of time that there was going to be a lot of stress and worry that the two of us were going to have to go through during the pregnancy. These are the kind of things that you hear and you heed this advice, but you don't quite understand it until you go through it on a personal level. But until I went through it I simply couldn't appreciate the meaning behind the message that people were trying to convey to us in the beginning.

You will find there a number of your friends and family who are more than willing to share their stories and the trials and tribulations that they've gone through, but you really must be careful as in many of these instances, no two pregnancies are quite alike. We heard a number of stories that unnerved both of us, and were afraid that we would experience the same things, and I was most especially concerned whenever my wife's best friend who was also expecting to have her baby around the same time as we were, had a miscarriage. This only seemed to heighten the urgency of the stores I had read and been told about. However, I realized after looking back on the pregnancy, that there were a number scares that we had to go through, that ended up being quite routine for most couples who are expecting their first child.

This is why it is extremely important that you be a rock for your wife and be there emotionally for her. You will need to do a lot of reading and educate yourself, so that when problems do arise, you can assure her that things are normal, or when there are legit red flags you must be concerned about. By doing this, you will help reduce her stress levels, and make the pregnancy easier on her. This will go a long way towards having a happy and healthy child and mother when the big day arrives for all of you.
